2.) PLEASE BOOT UP BEFORE YOU GET INTO THE LODGE – IF POSSIBLE

3) The event will be split between STATESIDE and TRAMSIDE LODGES
RAIL & SLOPESTYLE:
STATESIDE LODGE via the Taxi Quad to access the Slopestyle in the Rabbit Trail Terrain Park & the Rail Jam in the Chalet Meadows Park

GIANT SLALOM:
TRAMSIDE LODGE via the Metro Quad to access and the Interstate Trail (GS) .  The GS course is located lookers left, immediately upon exiting the Metro quad lift.

4) The competition will run concurrently with some teams competing on the slopestyle course, while others are competing in the rail jam and GS course. 3 judges will be present on the slopestyle course, and two judges will be present on the rail jam course. League president, Matt Steinke, will be serving as our event tabulator and will be assisting remotely.

Due to VPA COVID restrictions, teams will be grouped together, and a heat system will be used to provide teams with start times. Teams will complete their 2 runs on the specified course before moving on to their next scheduled rotation.  I will, hopefully, receive the event running order before Wednesday, if not, I will have the running order after I register the team for the comp. – I will share the running order the moment I receive it.

5) Course inspections will be from at 9:00-9:30. The coaches meeting and judges conversation will take place at 9:30 at the top of the Metro Quad. Team events will begin promptly at 9:45.

6) An online waiver is required of all competitors, even if one has already been filled out. Please see the link below for access to the waiver:

GS race is accessible from the Tramside lodge as well. Purchase tickets using the discount code given in Team App if you hold a season pass from another mountain, you can present that as well ( in case there is an issue with Discount code)

Looking forward to a great state championship! I am so excited that we were able to pull this off!

Snowboard State Championships
March 17th, 2021

Below are details regarding overnight accommodations, departure times, event costs and rosters and awards ceremony. Please read the following information in its entirety – if you have any questions please call or text Coach Bloch

Great news! our entire varsity team will be traveling and competing in all three events!

OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATIONS
We are all set with the discount lodging and lift ticket code for states, ( I WILL SHARE THE CODE IN THE TEAM APP)

For lodging, guests can call 800-451-4449 and mention the code or they can go online and enter the code when they make their reservation on Jay Peak’s website.

The discount is only on 1- and 2-bedroom cottages and Stateside Hotel – All of these reservations are for 40% off, and while the resort prefers multiple night stays, they are willing to work with single nights for us.

For lift tickets, you would enter the promo code ( I WILL SHARE THE CODE IN THE TEAM APP) in when purchasing online (I’ve gotten two stories from the reservations people; 1.) you can only get tickets in person, in which case you will give them the promo code ( I WILL SHARE THE CODE IN THE TEAM APP).

It goes without saying that this promo code is OUR use only and should not be distributed to anyone outside the bounds of our series. The resort has been incredibly generous to our league during this incredibly difficult year, and we do not want to jeopardize our relationship with them by allowing folks to get discounts that are not entitled to them.

With that being said, the mountain is offering a very generous deal with rates at 40% off for rooms in the Stateside Hotel, 1 Bedroom Cottages, and 2-bedroom cottages. These rates will be able to be reserved online or by calling customer service with a special code that I will pass along to everyone as soon as I have it (hopefully by this evening).

Any stay at the hotel includes free breakfast. Bookings for the cottages have full kitchen areas, but breakfast vouchers could be purchased for an additional $15.

While the resort encourages multi-day bookings, they are willing to accept one-night stays at this rate for teams that wish to travel and practice on 3/16 (Or alternatively, for those that wish to stay the night of the 17th).

STATE SIDE HOTEL
2 Beds 1 night: $238

COTTAGES
1 Bedroom – Sleeps 4: $426
2 Bedroom – Sleeps 6 : $572

We will also have a special discount code for any spectators that wish to attend and purchase lift tickets. Those day pass prices will be $67 for adults, and $54 for juniors.

AWARDS
The awards ceremony will be held virtually via Zoom the day after on the March 18th.  This decision was made by taking into account covid safety restrictions, practicality, and feedback from coaches.  It is our hope that this will allow the most people possible to watch/attend. The league president has the trophies and medals and will mail them to the winners afterwards.  It’s not ideal, but given the circumstances I think we can make it work while still being fun. I am thinking about setting up a projector at my house on the side of Barn with a rail jam and Bonfire. If anyone had access to a projector please let me know. I haven’t gotten a time as to when the Zoom would happen, I will let everyone the moment I have more details

GENERAL TEAM INFORMATION:

Our teams main mode of communication is via an app called “Team app” if you go download the app onto your phones and search for our team “ Woodstock Snowboarding”  once downloaded, please complete all needed info – a request will then be sent to the admin asking for access, once access is granted you will be part of our communication.

Load the TEAM APP on your phone > Once downloaded look for “Woodstock Snowboard- this is our primary mode of communication (I recommend you and anyone else who wants to follow the team add this app)

Following is some pertinent info:

Varsity Coaches: David J. Bloch
Middle School and JV Coach: Alyssa Smith

– Being part of the Snowboard Team is a Privilege not a right!
– Register (if you haven’t already)
 – Get concussion tested with Brandy

 – $99 Season Pass at Suicide 6 for training, but can use it on the weekends as well, no black out dates
 – Zero tolerance for drugs and/or vaping ( strictly enforced. If coaches see, smell or hear about it – athlete is off the team until further actions are taken)
– No cursing or fowl language allowed
– You represent this team, stellar behavior is expected on and off the mountain!
– Until Suicide 6 opens we will have dryland training, typically meeting in Room 21 (Ms Smith’s room) at 3:15pm please dress accordingly.
– After Suicide 6 opens we will practice most days, get a ride with Ms Smith or a senior, with permission. My schedule is erratic, so days may vary for now; Mon- Thurs (Fridays are optional)
There is a  bus (“The Pomfret Bus”) that takes athletes to the mountain, however it takes at least 15+ minutes off our practice, I ask that athletes who take the bus – get ready ON THE BUS and head directly to the lift and to the trail we are practicing on. Getting a ride with a team member ( Seniors only) or a coach is optimal.
– Middle schoolers do not compete, but I may, from time to time, with permission, take them to watch events.
– We do have team gear available, getting that together and will share as soon as we have it set up.

>> loading the “TEAM” APP is the most urgent important item in regards to communication.
